IDEAS will provide an annual research grant of up to $5,000 each to approximately six PhD students to fund their field research. These grants, which will be awarded through a competitive process, are an opportunity to support young academics in undertaking fieldwork, which is increasingly, a costly exercise. For IDEAS, this fund is also an opportunity to identify up-and-coming researchers and to mentor them where possible. Recipients of these funds will be required to acknowledge the institute in their work and to write a policy brief on their research at an appropriate time to be disseminated by IDEAS.

To be eligible for the grant, candidates should be currently enrolled in a PhD program and should have completed their required PhD coursework.
